Part of our language for bodies in this society is related to notions of identity, background, history and context. I’m talking race, gender presentation, age, visible ability and many other factors. They say that a picture is worth a 1000 words; your body can be worth millions…

"In the world we live in today, where ignorance is in every corner, the Muslim women are facing a harder time than anyone. Imagine, just because she wears a scarf on her head and doesn’t show skin, a huge uproar is heard! You have women, and might I add men as well, who walk semi-nude or fully nude on the beaches, schools, and in public, but are not told a thing! They view that as freedom, or rights. If a woman walks into a class room with her cleavage showing, as well as her thighs, no one would call her oppressed, or view her choice of clothing as wrong; however, if she is covered and dressed with modesty and shyness, she is called oppressed, viewed as inhumane. You know who is naked? Animals. Creatures who have no mind to use for intellect. Not only was it stated in the Holy Quran, but in the Bible as well, Corinthians 11:6 “If a woman does not cover hear head, she should have her hair cut off, and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.” But as we all know, all of humanity is giving into media, fashion, and “freedom”. The same way the half-nude women don’t have to explain why they reveal their bodies, us Muslim women don’t have to explain why we conceal our bodies."
